A letter to European young entrepreneurs: Call for action

Young entrepreneurs of Europe,

The last years we all live one of the most critical periods of the recent European history. We have to choose between either strengthening and securing the amazing achievements of the post WW-II era or letting the causes which actually led Europe to the disastrous war, rise up again.

It is obvious that a lot need to change in Europe. This is the responsibility of our generation.

We, young entrepreneurs, as actors of innovation and creativity actually have the solution. We need to inject dynamism to the European economy. It may sounds simple, it is very challenging though. In Europe we do have the size, We have the largest economy on the planet. However, it is impressively slow moving. Looks like an elderly - like our demographics are. 

This is the real mission: To turn Europe young again, based on creativity and innovation!

Fortunately enough, it is well recognized across Europe that Entrepreneurship is rather the only viable solution for getting us out of the current economic crisis at a sustainable way.

Since last November we have been talking about the YES Agenda 2010-2015 outlining four key-priorities for Young Entrepreneurs in Europe:

- Access to capital
- Realization of the single European market
- Education / development of entrepreneurial culture
- Failure-tolerant legislation / bankruptcy legislation

Based on these principles we have presented YES at important international networks, think tanks and conferences. The following video and presentation from the 'Festival d'Europa'  last May in Firenze, Italy, are good examples of our positions which have been warmly welcome by a number of different stakeholders.

It is very important that YES has represented young entrepreneurs of Europe in major international events, like the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Summit in Nice, France where we have signed the official communiqué,

We also represented Europe at the MAME Young Entrepreneurs Network and the newly formed Mediterranean Young Entrepreneurs Confederation.

Last, but certainly not least, our participation to EBAN - The European Trade Association for Business Angels, Seed Funds and other early-stage market players points out the top importance we give to access-to-capital. In this context, we plan to operate a pan-European business angels network, mostly web-based and targeted to cross-border investments in European start-ups.

For the coming year we have very ambitious objectives:
- Achieving 100% EU Member States membership in YES and vast majority of the candidate / associated States
- Introducing associate membership for entrepreneurial organizations interested in joining the YES community, as well as introducing corporate and individual memberships
- Positively influencing the EU and national/regional governments towards the realization of the YES Agenda 2010-2015
- Providing real services to member federations, corporations and individual entrepreneurs | A first service could be the presentation of a qualified, screened deal-flow to individual and corporate investors in the context of a business angel networks operated by YES

In order to meet these ambitious objectives we shall form a highly motivated and qualified Presidency Team as well we shall create administrative infrastructure with a dedicated, qualified team and partnership with the right service providers.

Above anything else, YES is a collective organization. We do need the active involvement of every single European young entrepreneur!

We do need members' active involvement in order to achieve results that will make us proud and make Europe a better place for entrepreneurship.

Επανάσταση

H 5η συνάντηση του Hellenic Start-up Association γίνεται αυτήν την Τετάρτη 30/11 και ώρα 7:00μμ. 

- Όλοι εκείνοι που πιστεύουμε πως μπορούμε να ξαναβάλουμε την Ελλάδα στον δρόμο της προόδου με εργαλείο τη δημιουργικότητά μας, πρέπει να είμαστε εκεί. 

- Όλοι εκείνοι που πιστεύουμε πως ο ορθός λόγος μπορεί να ξαναβρεί τη θέση που του αρμόζει στην καθημερινότητά μας, πρέπει να είμαστε εκεί.

- Όλοι εκείνοι που πιστεύουμε πως οι λέξεις μαζικότητα, συλλογικότητα και αντιπροσωπευτικότητα πρέπει να ανακτήσουν το αυθεντικό τους νόημα, πρέπει να είμαστε εκεί.

Η επιχειρηματικότητα είναι μια μαζική, καθολική κοινωνική επιλογή. 

- Δεν έχει σε τίποτα να κάνει με την ιδιοτέλεια ή την αισχροκέρδεια. 

- Είναι το εργαλείο καθενός από εμάς να γίνει χρήσιμος στην κοινωνία απολαμβάνοντας τη χαρά τη δημιουργία. 

Αυτή είναι η επανάσταση που καθένας μας πρέπει να κάνει μέσα του.

The only effective response to the debt crisis is Federal Europe

What we are experiencing in Europe the last two years, very much more the last six months, is the result of political hesitation for a deeper & stronger European integration.

The obvious statement that "a monetary union without a real financial union is not sustainable" is proven right at an amazing manner day-by-day.

Political systems across Europe struggle to stay in power, betting, quite unfortunately, on a concept which we all thought was deep-burried in European history: Nationalism.

Watching news in European countries makes you think that there are some very bad people in Brussels dictating decisions and 'imposing authority' on the national governments. Interestingly enough, this stands both for strong and weak economies in the EU.

This is pure populism and we should all stand against it.

For European Economy, for Europe in general, in order to play any role in future geopolitics and geoeconomy, has to get truly united, has to explore economies of scale. The 19th century US history teaches the most important lessons about this.

A truly united Europe can only be a Federal Europe, with a directly elected European government for the European citizens.

We all live extreme moments in Europe. Yes, it's about business, it's about entrepreneurship, it's about stability, it's about sustainability. IMHO, it is ridiculous to believe that Europe faces a financial crisis.

The European debt crisis is a pure political crisis and the response can only fall in the field of politics.

Entrepreneurs, as actors of innovation, creativity and progress, should use all their influence and power to move decisions to the right direction.

A truly united Europe, a federal European State, will only be good for us Europeans and for the rest of the World.

Last but certainly not least: We just need to realize that a possible return of Nationalism in Europe will be THE END for all of us and, after that, do whatever necessary to realize a truly united, Federal Europe.

To δικαίωμα στη Χαρά της Δημιουργίας για όλη την κοινωνία

Δεν είναι λίγοι αυτοί που προωθούν - νομίζουν - την επιχειρηματικότητα μιλώντας για τον "Έλληνα Steve Jobs" ή την "Ελληνική Google". Πρόκειται για μια, στην καλύτερη περίπτωση, αντίληψη επαρχιωτισμού που μόνο την ουσία των πραγμάτων δεν βλέπει.

Όχι, δεν μας ενδιαφέρει να γίνουμε η "Ανατολική Γερμανία" της επιχειρηματικότητας. Δεν θέλουμε να έχουμε - νομοτελειακά προσωρινούς - αστέρες. Θέλουμε αντίθετα η επιχειρηματικότητα να είναι μια μαζική, καθολική επιλογή για όλη την κοινωνία. Θέλουμε εκατομμύρια Έλληνες να νιώσουν τη χαρά της δημιουργίας. Είναι κάτι για πολλούς, δυνητικά για όλους, όχι για μια μικρή ελίτ.

Με πολύ μεγάλη χαρά μίλησα σήμερα για τα θέματα αυτά στην εξαιρετική εκδήλωση της Μονάδας Καινοτομίας & Επιχειρηματικότητας του Οικονομικού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Ιδιαίτερα θέλω να δώσω έμφαση στο τέλος της παρουσίασης: Όχι, η επιχειρηματικότητα δεν αφορά (μόνο) το "να κάνεις εταιρεία". Αντίθετα, η επιχειρηματικότητα είναι στάση ζωής, η οποία ολοκληρώνεται με τη διασφάλιση της συνέχειας, της μεταλαμπάδευσης της δημιουργικότητας στην επόμενη γενιά.

Τελικά, μιλάμε για την ευτυχία.

Ποιους συμφέρει η επιστροφή στην δραχμή

Έχουμε αναρωτηθεί ποιους όντως συμφέρει άραγε η επιστροφή στην δραχμή;

Είναι αλήθεια ότι γυρνώντας στην αγαπημένη μας δραχμούλα θα μπορέσουμε να υποτιμήσουμε το νόμισμά μας και ξαφνικά δεν θα προλαβαίνουμε να κάνουμε εξαγωγές ή μήπως η παραγωγική βάση της χώρας είναι εντελώς αποδιαρθρωμένη και όσο κι αν ρίξουμε τα κόστη, δεν υπάρχει προϊόν να εξαχθεί;

Αν αναζητήσουμε τον ορθό λόγο θα δούμε ότι η επιστροφή στη δραχμή συμφέρει κύρια δυο ομάδες:

Α) Το μεγάλο κεφάλαιο που τώρα έχει ευρώ στην Ελβετία ή σε άλλους φορολογικούς παραδείσους ανά τον κόσμο. Αμέσως μετά την υποτίμηση (ή τις διαδοχικές υποτιμήσεις, για να είμαστε ακριβείς), το μεγάλο αυτό κεφάλαιο θα μπορέσει να αποκτήσει την κυριότητα των πλουτοπαραγωγικών πηγών της χώρας έναντι εξευτελιστικού τιμήματος.

Β) Την κακιστοκρατία, το ένοχο πολιτικό-οικονομικό σύστημα, που τυπώνοντας δραχμές θα συνεχίζει να εξαγοράζει συνειδήσεις (ενώ είναι πια προφανές ότι με το ευρώ δυσκολεύεται πολύ - για 'εξωτερικούς' με το σύστημα λόγους).

Εκτίμησή μου είναι πως τι γκρίζο "ιδιωτικοδημόσιο", η ένοχη οικονομικο-πολιτική (τρόπος του λέγειν "πολιτική") συμμαχία, δεν θα σταματήσουν αν δεν μας βγάλουν από το ευρώ.

Μοναδική λύση όπως πολλές φορές είπα, η Ευρωπαϊκή Ομοσπονδία.

Έχει σημάνει η ώρα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ομοσπονδίας

Η λύση, η μοναδική βιώσιμη λύση, η μοναδική δημοκρατική λύση, είναι η Ευρωπαϊκή Ομοσπονδία με μια Ομοσπονδιακή Κυβέρνηση δημοκρατικά εκλεγμένη από όλους τους Ευρωπαίους Πολίτες.

Σκεφθείτε το.

Δεν σας κάνει εντύπωση που κανείς από το ένοχο πολιτικό προσωπικό δεν ανοίγει αυτήν τη συζήτηση; Που κανείς δεν την ανοίγει ούτε στις ένοχες ολιγαρχίες που κυβερνούν Γερμανία και Γαλλία, ονειρευόμενες να ηγεμονεύουν των Ευρωπαίων; Ούτε το ΔΝΤ, ούτε οι ΗΠΑ κανείς.


Αυτήν την στιγμή, εδώ και κάποια χρόνια για την ακρίβεια, η Ευρώπη (άρα και εμείς) είναι *συνειδητά* σε γκρίζα ζώνη. Θέλει να είναι και με τον χωροφύλαξ και με τον αστυφύλαξ. Και την πίτα ολόκληρη και τον σκύλο χορτάτο. Και "εθνική ανεξαρτησία" και "ευρωπαϊκή ολοκλήρωση".

Αναποφασιστικότητα δηλαδή. Διστακτικότητα να γίνει το "δέον γενέσθαι".

Αποτέλεσμα; Το χάος που όλοι βιώνουμε.


Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ομοσπονδία είναι η μόνη λύση. Η ισχύς εν τη ενώσει. Το πρόβλημα δεν είναι ελληνικό, είναι ευρωπαϊκό.

Έχει σημάνει η ώρα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ομοσπονδίας.

Άγει προς φως την αλήθειαν χρόνος

Είναι απόγευμα, έχουν περάσει τρεις κουραστικές μα πολύ δημιουργικές μέρες στο G20YES στη Νίκαια. Περπατάω στην παραλία, σκέφτομαι τη μητέρα μου, όλα αυτά -τόσα πολλά- που έμαθα από εκείνη. Ειδικά το "άγει προς φως την αλήθειαν χρόνος" του Μενάνδρου που συναντώ πολύ συχνά στις σημειώσεις της. Είναι πολύ αισιόδοξο, νομίζω. Δίνει αυτοπεποίθηση. Ας κάνει καθένας μας το "δέον γενέσθαι" και η δικαίωση θα έρθει με απόλυτη βεβαιότητα, αργά ή γρήγορα.
